Rate my guitar progress?
OK so I’ve been playing guitar for about 6-7 months, and I’d like to see how I’m doing.
For fundamentals, I warm up with a chromatic run just going up and down the fretboard using alternative picking, string skipping, etc.
For scales I don’t know that many, but I know some major scales and the blues scale pattern.
For chords I know all major, 90% of minor, some suspended, and some maj7.
For songs..I can play the following:
100% correctly I can play RHCP-Californication, Crazy train (no solo), When you were young, All the small things, the chords from hotel california, etc.
For songs I’m working on- I’m trying to learn RHCP-Snow at slower tempo, Canon rock, The day that never comes, enter sandman, and sweet home alabama.
Also keep in mind that I play trumpet and already knew how to read and play music prior to picking up the guitar.
That’s very good for someone who has only played for 6-7months.
I know some people who have played for a year and still can’t do simple stuff like alternative picking.
On account of knowing how to play the trumpet, i guess that must relly have helped you with the theory.
