Guitar Strings?
I have an acoustic and electric guitar. I know over time the strings will start to form rust type material no matter how much you clean them. But I just got these strings about a month ago and they already have nastyness on them. I’m wonder what you do to maintain your strings? I usually wash my hands before I play, I know one of my friends just wipes down his guitar with a cloth after he’s done playing.
What’s the best method to keep a clean/well maintained guitar?
Yeah I know you should change your strings a lot (I was told about every 3 months depending on usage) but I’m talking like 2 weeks into having the new strings they started collecting gunk.
Wipe down the guitar regularly, and ALWAYS wash your hands before playing.
How often you play and what style you play also affects the lifetime of your strings.
I spent last summer in Kenya – had to replace my strings once a week – presumably due to the humidity, dust and ridiculous amounts of sweating!
Generally, I change strings every 4-6 weeks (on my acoustic). Can’t beat that bright tone once you’ve tuned up with a fresh set of new strings…
