Bridge saddle and nut replacement questions?

I was reading in a magazine that a way to dramatically change your acoustic guitar’s tone for the better was to replace the bridge saddle and nut. I have a Ibanez EW20ASE and its bridge saddle has slowly been eaten away by my strings, which I can tell has altered my sound. My problem is that I have no idea what to do to replace it. I’d also like to replace the nut and bridge pins. It’s a great guitar and I know my overall sound and feel will improve with these adjustments, I just need to know where to start. If you think that it’s not worth it, please explain. Also if you have any history with this type of repair, was it hard to do? Thanks!

Any good guitar tech can do this for you. Most people put in a bone saddle and nut. I had it done by CF Martin when they were doing a warranty neck reset on my OM-45. I honestly don’t know if I can hear any improvement.

Actually you don't know that. It certainly can't hurt but the improvement - if any - will be subtle.

You start by doing some research and finding the best guitar technician in your area. Talk to him/her about what you want done. Good luck.
