How to choose the right electric guitar strings…?
When, for example, someone says they use .10 gauge strings – does that refer to the whole set? How do I choose the right strings for an electric guitar?
The number refers to the top E string (high). The larger the number the thicker the string, Musicians use different guages to change tone or find them easier to use, other reasons for changing string guage is because you down tune your guitar and it eliminates fret buzz. If you are a beginner stick with .10, if you feel uncomfortable with them experiment with other guages and manufacturers, you’ll eventually find something that you are comfortable with.
