2 questions. will guitar center restring my bass? What are the best strings for a jazz bass?

Hi, i recently got a fender deluxe active jazz bass and a part on the bridge looked messed up so i loosened my E string and fixed it and when i tuned it up, it buzzed alot. so i just took the strings off before i did any real damage. i dont know how to restring a bass but i know its more complicated that a 6 string guitar. so my question is does guitar center restirng bass guitars, and what are the best strings to use for a jazz bass? i play mostly classic rock
