What brand and gauge strings should I get for my acoustic guitar?
Hi, I’m giving my friend my Yamaha acoustic guitar for his birthday and I need to change the strings. He is just a beginner and I don’t buy acoustic guitar strings, most of the time I am buying D’Addario .10 gauge strings for my electric. I was just wondering if anyone could tell me a good brand and gauge for a beginner guitar player on an acoustic guitar.

10s are best for beginners on the acoustic I reckon, I used 11s but nothing heavier than that. D’Addario is a good enough brand so, you answered your own question really. Martin’s are also a good make. There are I think better strings out there but they can be more expensive.
